For the lazy, I’ll briefly tell you that Palekh allows Yandex to understand the essence of the request without reference to specific keywords. But it works only in the request-header bundle. If explained entirely on the fingers, Palekh can only understand the meaning of the headings (and not the whole page) and compare it with the essence of the request.
August 22, 2017 Yandex at the presentation in the Moscow Planetarium announced a new search algorithm “Korolev”. The algorithm is named in honor of the Soviet scientist and founder of the Soviet cosmonautics Sergei Pavlovich Korolev. And it is a logical continuation of Palekh.
Yandex, for its part, has done everything so that we (search users) realize the full significance of innovations and understand that this algorithm is special and fundamental, from the category of large steps for humanity.
Firstly, Yandex created a separate site, https://yandex.ru/korolev/ , which was not done for any previous algorithm.
Secondly, I made a real show from the announcement – they launched large-scale advertising campaigns (I don’t know how you – Yandex caught up with me even on my daughter’s instagram, which I hadn’t noticed before), during the broadcast the presenters got in touch with the astronauts; presented the team working on the algorithm; handed rocket medals.
To whom it is interesting – here is the recording of the broadcast, in fact there for a couple of minutes, the rest of the pompous show:
Let’s understand what is so special about this algorithm.
Usually the title of the page reflects the essence of the document, so Palekh can understand the essence of the title, but this is not enough. The content on the page itself is important. And Yandex figured out how to do it.
Space Search Yandex
But before you begin to explain smart things in simple language, test the issue. Let’s compare what was and what became of the implementation of Korolev in practice. We test on “long tail requests”, because in all its glory, the algorithms of Palekh and Korolev are revealed there.
Remember, in the article about Palekh we drove in different requests and analyzed the results of the issue? On their example and see what has changed. We look in incognito mode so that personalization does not interfere.
Take the query “the film in which the doctor gave the girl candy to laughter”:
Issuance on this request has clearly become better. At the same time, the description does not contain a word about a girl or a laugh:
Miracle – you say, no – Korolev.
The following query: “Who is the tallest mammal”:
Again, the issue has become better.
Another request – “buy a tool for making holes in concrete of small size”:
Extradition also became better. If at Palekh among the options there were many hole punching machines for the skin, then at the Queen the issue was clearly cleaner.
Well, the last request, which is no longer comparable with the Yandex version of Palekh, but with google’s current version of RankBrain – “what is the name of the book in which endangered species of animals and plants are entered”:
google Fallacious Mind
At Yandex, at the expense of the islands, the answer looks more representative, but google gives the right answer in the first snippet. And if earlier Palekh obviously lost to Fallacious Mind , then Yandex in the Korolev version, if it is lagging behind, is only slightly.
We understand what has changed technically.
Algorithm Korolev simple words
The Palekh algorithm was able to match the meaning of the request and the title of the page. Korolev is able to analyze the whole page, and not just the request.
For example, Korolev will easily find the answer to the question “a picture where the clock is hanging on a tree”, although there is no direct use of these words in the description on the page:
What makes this happen?
Korolev, unlike Palekh, learned to do two fundamentally important things.
The first – began to determine the essence of the page at the time of indexing. Those. at the time of the robot’s crawling, Yandex understands the meaning of the content of the page being indexed and stores this data in itself. Palekh determined the meaning of the title at the time of the request. If it was still possible with the title, then with a full page is problematic – it will take more time, and the Search user will not wait, it will immediately google.
The second one takes into account the meaning of other requests for which the page is relevant. I will explain it.
Any page can be relevant to multiple requests. For example, the picture “The Constancy of Memory” can be searched for by different requests: “a picture where the clock is hanging on a tree”, “a famous picture of Salvador Dali”, “a picture about a soft clock” and so on. And if we know the best answer to the query “a picture about a soft watch”, then it is logical to assume that the same answers will be the best for the rest of these requests.
What does this mean for website owners and the SEO industry in general?
Yes, in general, nothing. The era of semantic SEO is striding by leaps and bounds.
All the latest algorithms, that Palekh, that Baden-Baden, that Korolev speak only about one thing – make websites for people. Only technical optimization is now not enough – today, search engines all over the world are doing everything to ensure that the very best sites on their topics appear first.
Forget about the rates of nausea and spam on the page, about the TK with a specific keyword entry and optimization for robots.
From traditional text optimization, switch to LSI-copywriting . For a better understanding of the meaning of the pages, Yandex will be helped by semantic markup . And if you do not know what to do – contact us – we will promote your website correctly.
Unfortunately, often having such a site flies into a pretty penny, and instead of developing your site and business, they prefer to invest in buying links, cheating behavioral and other illegal, but less expensive ways.
“What?! Site redesign of 89 000 rubles ?! Yes, I’d rather buy references to Sapa for this money, ”just yesterday I heard from one of our clients. It’s a shame. But who was right – time will tell.
